Our Story
More Than Firearms Training
Dominion Defense was founded by Dustin and Katie Nelson with a shared passion for education, leadership, and responsible firearms instruction.
As educators, certified instructors, parents, and community advocates, they recognized that true preparedness extends beyond technical skills. It requires character, sound judgment, personal responsibility, and a commitment to serving others.
Today, Dominion Defense combines leadership development, constitutional literacy, emergency preparedness, and professional firearms instruction to help students of all ages build confidence, develop practical life skills, and grow into responsible members of their families and communities.

Dominion Defense is led by experienced educators and certified instructors who bring decades of combined experience in education, leadership development, technical trades, firearms instruction, and community service.
Dustin Nelson
Founder — Certified NRA Instructor & Range Safety Officer
Dustin combines decades of technical expertise, community service, and firearms instruction to help students build confidence through safe, responsible training. A certified NRA Instructor and Range Safety Officer, he has served as a school security officer, licensed electrician, business owner, and missionary, bringing a practical, service-oriented approach to every class he teaches.
Katie Nelson
Founder — NRA Range Safety Officer
Katie brings extensive experience in education, curriculum development, and leadership coaching to Dominion Defense. As an award-winning educator with a Master's in Educational Leadership and an NRA Range Safety Officer, she is passionate about developing programs that help students grow academically, personally, and confidently while equipping families with practical life skills.
